Aurora City Council and Committee of the Whole June 10, 2024 Committee of the Whole (COW): The meeting was called to order at 6:30 by Vice- Chairman Scott Wolf with Council members present: Brad Duguay, Reva Barner, Peter French, Sarah Grdina Gilmore, George Horvat, Dennis Kovach, John Seitz and John Kudley was absent. There were 7 City Officials and Employees present. There were 3 citizens present. Minutes from May 28, 2024 were adopted. There was 1 Ordinance proposed for 1st Reading:
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm City Council (CC): Council President G. Horvat called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm with the Pledge to the Flag of the United States of America. Council members were present and absent as noted in the COW report. There were 7 City Officials and Employees present and 3 people in the gallery.
May 28, 2024 Minutes were adopted. Mayor’s Report: Items included: The return of Food Truck Wednesdays on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at Kiwanis-Moore Park from 11 am to 2 pm; Splash Bash was rescheduled due to inclement weather to June 21; The upcoming 4th of July celebration which will include a fun run, parade, festival and fireworks with information available at www.auroraoh.com.; a request for support of the Marijuana Prohibition to maintain “the charm and integrity of our residential community”; meetings with outgoing Chamber of Commerce Director Karen Bosley and new Executive Director Tevin Rey; swearing in the new full-time firefighter/paramedic Brandon Cole; taping June Community Focus report. Law Director’s Report: Mr. DiPiero thanked the Charter Commission members for their work and legislation is being crafted for the November ballot. His report was included in the packet. The Ordinance on 1st Reading prohibiting all Cannabis Operations went to 2nd Reading. Citizens Comments: H. Caplin, who owns the 7.25 acres behind McDonalds is still working with Evexia restaurant for parking and is seeking information on who pays for the increased heavy traffic on the access road that was originally planned for car traffic only.
