Aurora Ohio City Council Special Meeting September 16, 2024 The meeting was called to order at 6:00 by President George Horvat with all Council members present either for the Executive Session or the Vote: Reva Barner, Brad Duguay, Peter French, Sarah Grdina Gardner, George Horvat, Dennis Kovach, John Seitz and Scott Wolf. There were 4 City Officials and Employees present. There were 2 citizens present.
There was a 1 hour and 11 minute Executive Session to discuss the acquisition of Real Property. Ordinance 2024-128 was added to the agenda with rules suspended. This ordinance authorizes “the Mayor to enter into an agreement of sale and transfee with ICP Geauga Lake LLC,… for the purchase of approximately 7.1234 acres of land for the purchase price of $801,382.50 plus applicable acquisition related, due diligence and closing costs not to exceed $75,000.00, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into and execute all applicable agreements, easements and other documents in connection with the purchase of the property appropriating $880,000.00 from the General Fund (01), …..” Ordinance 2023-104 authorizes “the Mayor to enter into an agreement of sale and transfer with ICP Geauga Lake LLC for the purchase of approximately 40 acres of land and approximately 53.63 acres of a body of water known as Geauga Lake and accepting an easement around the lake known as the “lake loop” for the purchase price of $4,500,000.00 plus applicable acquisition related , due diligence and closing costs not to exceed $140,000.00, further authorizing the Mayor to enter into and execute all applicable agreements, easements and other documents in connection with the purchase of the property, taking $3,341,525.37 from the City Operations Fund (52) and taking $1,298,474.63 from the Local Coronavirus Relief Fund (23).” Both Ordinances were adopted.
