Committee of the Whole (COW)
The meeting was called to order at 6:45 pm by Chairman J. Kudley with council members D. Kovach, B. Duguay, H. Hatridge, G. Horvat, S. Wolf, S. Gilmore, R. Barner and P. French present. There were 9 City Officials and Employees present and 3 people in the gallery.
The June 13 and June 27 minutes were approved.
The Mayor gave the Finance Director’s report saying that the 2021 Audit was clean and there are healthy balances.
There were 4 Ordinances proposed for action that evening including:
One Ordinance was proposed for First Reading to go to Second Reading for the installation of flooring in the Aurora Memorial Library Building.
The meeting adjourned at 7:02 pm.
City Council (CC):
G. Horvat called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm with all Council members present. There was 1 person in the gallery.
Minutes for the June 13 and June 27 meetings were approved.
Mayor’s Report: July 4th Activities were recalled and Thanks extended to Parks and Rec Director Laura Holman, Police Chief Brian Byard, Fire Chief Dave Barnes and Service Director Harry Stark and their “hard-working staff(s)”; There will be a Master Plan Open House on July 19; National Night Out will be August 2 from 5-8 pm; Upcoming Concerts were listed; and the various meetings and activities were mentioned. One of the events was the Safety Town Graduation- the 50th year for it.
The Four Ordinances proposed at COW for action that evening were adopted with rules suspended.
The Ordinance for flooring for the Aurora Memorial Library went to 2nd Reading.
The one citizen present urged everyone to Vote on August 2.
Most Council Members expressed good wishes for Chief Barnes upon his retirement as Fire Chief, thanking him for his years of service to Aurora. There will be a celebration for Chief Barnes on August 12 and all are invited.
An Executive Session was scheduled for the Purchase of real property and for litigation.
No Action was to be taken so Council Chambers were cleared of all but Council Members at 7:27.
